WELCOME KINDERGARTEN 2023
A warm CPS welcome to our 82 Kindergarten students who commenced school on Monday.
Thank you to our P&C who provided morning tea for our new families.
STAFF UPDATE
Mrs Kristensen will be relieving Deputy Principal two days / week, sharing the role with our substantive Deputy Mrs Edgley, who works three days / week.
Mr Boyd will be employed as an additional Deputy Principal, acting in the role for 2023.
Congratulations to our Relieving Assistant Principals for 2023. Miss Eunice Cheung will lead Early Stage 1, Mr Jye Vitnell leading Stage 2, and Mr Anthony Norman in charge of Stage 3. These positions are temporarily vacant with Mrs Assad being on maternity leave and Mr Boyd and Mrs Kristensen currently relieving in higher roles.
Congratulations to Mrs Elliott who commenced her new permanent role this year as Assistant Principal, Curriculum and Instruction (AP, C&I) at CPS.
The AP, C&I position is a leadership role dedicated to ensuring literacy and numeracy knowledge and skills are embedded in curriculum and assessment; high quality teaching practices are enhanced; and the capabilities of middle leaders are strengthened in literacy and numeracy instruction.
Mrs Elliott will provide guidance and professional learning to enhance teacher growth and development in literacy and numeracy. She will not have her own class, but will work alongside teachers, co-planning and co-teaching in a continuous improvement process that seeks to uplift teaching skills and improve student outcomes.
Our school still has a 0.2 (1 day / week) AP,C&I position that has not been permanently filled. Mrs Kristensen will fill this role for 2023.
Congratulations to Ms Bronwyn Ross on her permanent appointment to CPS. She will join our Stage 3 team.
Welcome back to Mrs Neilson Borg who returns to CPS after a year’s maternity leave. Mrs Neilson Borg will work one day in Term One and four days from Term Two onwards.
Congratulations to Ms Fianna Palmer, Mrs Carolyn Roberts, Ms Jackie Turra and Miss Matilda Gobbe who are joining our staff on temporary contracts for 2023. Ms Palmer, Mrs Roberts and Ms Jackie Turra will teach Stage 1, while Miss Gobbe will teach Year 3.
Mrs Pi will take maternity leave from this week onwards.
Mrs Murray is extending her leave and will not be at CPS in 2023.
2023 CLASS STRUCTURE
We will start 2023 with 773 students across 31 classes. Although our student numbers only entitle our school to 30 classes, CPS will fund the 31st class, to ensure class numbers are more conducive to learning.

MEET THE TEACHER SESSIONS
Our ‘Meet the Teacher’ sessions will be held on Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 February.
It is a great opportunity to find out what lies ahead for the 2023 school year, with grade programs, class routines and expectations discussed. I look forward to seeing you all.
