STAFFING UPDATE

As mentioned in previous newsletters, we had planned to interview for two vacant classroom teacher positions for 2023 (vacated by Mrs Woodbury retiring and Mrs Elliott’s  promotion), however due to falling student numbers (770 in 2023), the positions no longer need to be filled.

KINDERGARTEN TRANSITION

Our Kindergarten Transition program is now complete. At this stage, we will have 76 Kindergarten students enrolled for next year.

Thank you to Ms. Tillett and her Kindergarten team for their organisation of the program. It was definitely a team effort with our SLSO’s, School Counsellor, EAL/D teachers, Speech pathologist all contributing to the program.

Also a big thank you to our P&C, Canteen and Uniform Shop managers.

YEAR 6 CAMP

Year 6 will be heading to the Sport and Recreation Camp at Broken Bay next week. They will be in attendance from Monday to Friday and will have the opportunity to develop their independence, self-confidence, self-esteem, and resilience as they participate in new and unique challenges. Thank you to Mr Watts for his time and effort organising the camp and Mrs Bickham, Mrs Yee, Mr Bhandarkar, and Mr Boyd for giving up their time to supervise the students while they are away from home.

CONGRATULATIONS Jnr and Snr PSSA SOCCER TEAMS

Congratulations to our Jnr and Snr PSSA Soccer teams who were crowned 2022 Parramatta / Merrylands PSSA Premiers. Both teams finished the season undefeated. Well done to Mr. Lam for coaching the teams.

CARLO BIN BALL WORLD CUP

Only four teams remain in the Bin Ball World Cup. Congratulations to Netherlands, Australia, Malaysia and Brazil for making it to the final four.

Semi Final fixtures will be played today with the Grand Final to be played on Friday.

We have seen some fantastic games and even better sportsmanship from all teams.

The game is a mix between dodgeball and bin ball which students need to hit the bin to win the game. Good luck to all remaining teams.

CARLO STAR SEARCH

This year we are welcoming the return of Carlo Star Search, where our students have the opportunity to show off their creative talents in music, dance, drama, comedy, gymnastics, and so much more.

Auditions have already commenced, and we are proud to say that we have received a high amount of interest from students to participate and show off their unique talents. We have seen a number of incredible acts so far with plenty of amazing performances to come. The Grand Final show will be run in Week 10 of Term 4 with parents welcome to join us. More details will come very soon on ‘CLASS DOJO.’ Thanks to Mr Pappas for his organisation.

 2023 PLANNING

We are trying to finalise 2023 student numbers so we can complete class structure and staffing for next year. At this stage it appears we will drop to 30 classes next year.

A Google form was emailed to parents this week seeking clarification on returning to school in 2023. The link is: Returning to CPS in 2023 Parent Survey .  Would you please complete this short form for each of your children to notify us if:

·         Your child/ren will be returning to CPS at the start of Term 1, 2023 – 31 January.

·         Your child/ren will be returning to CPS, but late (please provide date)

·         Your child/ren will not be returning to CPS.  If your child is not returning to CPS we ask you to also email or provide a letter to the office.

STUDENTS ARRIVING AT SCHOOL BEFORE 9:00am

Parents are reminded that there is no supervision of students at school before 9:00am.

(Camp Australia students excluded). Parents are asked to send their child/ren to school after 9:00am.

On the rare occasion that you need to send your child/ren to school before 9:00am, they are to sit under the COLA until a teacher supervision arrives (9:00am).

AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES AND CAMP AUSTRALIA SURVEY

We are seeking your feedback on our after school activity providers. This is a school run survey for us to gain some feedback about the need for before and after school care within our school community. There are also some questions for families who are currently using Camp Australia, our current before and after care provider.
