Principal's Report Term 4 Week 7

STAFFING UPDATE

As mentioned in previous newsletters, we had planned to interview for two vacant classroom teacher positions for 2023 (vacated by Mrs Woodbury retiring and Mrs Elliott’s promotion), however due to falling student numbers (770 in 2023), the positions no longer need to be filled.

2023 CLASS STRUCTURE

Current predictions of 2023 student numbers (767) will only entitle CPS to form 29 classes. We are hopeful that we will see additional enrolments before the end of January that will see DoE fund a 30th class.

A Google form has been emailed to parents seeking clarification on returning to school in 2023. The link is: Returning to CPS in 2023 Parent Survey .  Would you please complete this short form for each of your children to notify us if:

·         Your child/ren will be returning to CPS at the start of Term 1, 2023 – 31 January.

·         Your child/ren will be returning to CPS, but late (please provide date)

·         Your child/ren will not be returning to CPS.  If your child is not returning to CPS we ask you to also email or provide a letter to the office.

YEAR 6 CAMP

Year 6 are at Sport and Recreation Camp at Broken Bay this week. They will be in attendance all week and will have the opportunity to develop their independence, self-confidence, self-esteem, and resilience as they participate in new and unique challenges. Thank you to Mr Watts for his time and effort organising the camp and Mrs Bickham, Mrs Yee, Mr Bhandarkar, and Mr Boyd for giving up their time to supervise the students while they are away from home.

CARLO BIN BALL WORLD CUP FINAL

Congratulations to the Netherlands who defeated Brazil to take out the Bin Ball World Cup for 2023. In front of a capacity crowd, Netherlands stuck to their tactics well and ground out a famous victory. Thank you to Mr Harvey (Ray Warren) for commentating the final.

We'll be looking forward to more Carlo World Cups in 2023!

FOOD DRIVE

Today was the final day of the SRC Canned Food Donation Drive, thank you to all the students and parents who contributed. These donations will provide vital support for hungry and disadvantaged Australians this Christmas. To date we have 756 cans donated and they are currently being counted and boxed. We will provide another update next week with the total number of tins that were donated. The food will be collected and distributed by the Carlingford/ Dundas Lions Club. The SRC would like to thank everyone for the generosity.
