Student Representative Council

In our school we have a Student Representative Council (SRC) which is made up of Year 2 to Year 6 students and the Prefects. The SRC are elected by their class mates every year to represent them at fortnightly meetings. In these meetings they discuss with the SRC co-ordinators (teachers) ways to encourage all students to enjoy school life. This is done by organising school events by raising money for different charities and making the children aware of the different organisations that need our support in our community.

We have supported the following charities and events:

  • Mufti day, Charity - Homeless People of Australia
  • Jump Rope for Heart, Charity - Heart Foundation
  • Mufti day, Charity - Bushfire Appeal for Victorian Victims
  • Be a Maroon for a Day, Charity - Flood Appeal for Queensland Victims
  • Bandage Bear Day, Charity - Westmead Children's Hospital
  • Crazy Hair Day, Charity - Leukaemia Foundation Cystic Fibrosis in Australia
  • Jeans for Genes Day, Charity - Children's Medical Research Institute
  • Stewie the Dolphin merchandise, Charity - Stewart House
  • Can Teen Bandanna Day, Charity - Youth Cancer Fund
  • Red Nose Day, Charity - Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
  • Drought Support - Fiver for a Farmer

Every year we organise the following events to foster school and community spirit:

  • SRC Disco
  • Walk Safely to School
  • Footy Colours Day

The school disco is an annual event and raises money for the SRC to contribute something back into the school. The classes are asked what they want the money spent on and the SRC endeavours to spend the money appropriately.

Last year it was suggested the money be spent on soccer goal posts and on plants outside our new library. Bunnings was approached by Mr Hinton and they generously decided to donate all plants and volunteered to come and plant them with the help of last year's SRC. This year's SRC has continued this project by watering and looking after the plants.

The SRC members are committed students who are leaders amongst the school. They give the students a voice within the school. The SRC members stand up in front of their peers in the classroom and in school assemblies updating the direction and events of the SRC.
