PARENT - TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Thank you to all the families for making the time to attend a parent - teacher interview.  We hope you enjoyed meeting your child’s teacher (either by phone or in person) to discuss your child’s progress and learning goals.

YEAR 4 ‘OC’ APPLICATIONS – 2020 Year 5 PLACEMENTS

All Year 4 parents have received information this week, outlining details for applying for Year 5 Opportunity Class (OC) placement in 2022.

Opportunity classes cater for highly achieving academically gifted students who may otherwise be without classmates at their own academic and social level. These classes help gifted and talented students to learn by grouping them with other gifted and talented students, teaching them in specialised ways and providing educational materials at the appropriate level.

Applications for opportunity class placement are considered mainly on the combined results of the Opportunity Class Placement Test and school assessments. Students who wish to be considered for opportunity class placement will sit the Opportunity Class Placement Test on Wednesday 21 July 2021.

If you would like to discuss the application process please contact Miss Assad, Assistant Principal, through your child’s class teacher.

If you would like to have your child considered for Year 5 opportunity class entry in 2021, you need to apply between Tuesday 20 April 2021 and Friday 7 May 2021. You will need to access the online application at: https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-5 . You must not use the child’s email address.

EASTER HAT PARADE

Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 students will be having an Easter Hat parade in the new Hall at 10.00am this Thursday 1st of April. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this indoor event will only be for students.  Please take photos of your child posing with their hat on at home.

THE ‘TELL THEM FROM ME’ STUDENT FEEDBACK SURVEY – Years 4 - 6

Before the end of term, students in Years 4 – 6 will participate in the Department of Education initiative ‘Tell Them From Me’ student feedback survey.

The Tell Them From Me student survey asks students about a range of school experiences, including their engagement and wellbeing at school and beyond. It also asks students about teaching practices and the learning environment.

The survey aims to help improve student learning outcomes and measures factors that are known to affect academic achievement and other student outcomes.

The Tell Them From Me student survey asks students about a range of school experiences, including their engagement and wellbeing at school and beyond. It also asks students about teaching practices and the learning environment.

More information about the survey is available at: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/information-for-parents

The survey is a great opportunity for our students to provide our school with valuable and quick feedback on what they think about school life, how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

I‘d like to wish our community a happy and safe holiday. Students return to school on Tuesday, 20 April.
