Preparing for school 2020

SCHOOL SUPPLIES 2020

2020 at Carlingford Public School brings many exciting changes. The fit out of new furniture to Kindergarten and Year 1 rooms will be finalised in early Term 1. These classrooms will prepare students for the flexible seating arrangements which are also in our new building for Years 2-6. As a result of learning spaces physically changing in 2020, our needs for learning have also been reviewed. Your support in this will greatly assist our students in transitioning to new and innovative learning spaces at Carlingford Public School.

In previous years a list of items for each grade has been shared with families to supply their child/ren. Next year, the school will provide most items and store them in shared learning spaces for students to use across classroom and shared learning areas.

Families will be charged a small supply fee in Term 1 to cover the costs of basic stationery such as pencils, pens, glue, scissors etc from 2021. In 2020 this cost has been covered through an Establishment Grant as part of the new build project. Please be assured, there is no need to purchase or send in stationery items. We understand your child may have a set of special pencils or textas and they are welcome to bring them to school for art lessons. Students will have a space to store their bag at school during the day, however all classroom spaces are shared and belongings must be taken home each day.

We kindly ask families to bring in the following supplies to share with their class. These greatly assist in the day-to-day running of a classroom.

  • 1 box of tissues
  • 1 roll of paper towel
  • 1 bottle of liquid soap or hand sanitiser (200mL or larger).
  • 1 library bag (labelled and brought to school for library borrowing)
  • 1 set of earphones (labelled and stored in classroom)

You are welcome to bring these supplies in over the first few weeks of Term 1. There may be some additional items that individual classes are asked to bring in (eg paint shirts). This will be communicated in the new year.

We respectfully ask that no pencil cases or novelty stationery, eg ‘Smiggle’ brand etc, is brought to school. Each learning space and classroom will have shared stationery that will be replaced by the school as required.

The school has a “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) program for Years 3-6. A separate note regarding this will be sent to families before school starts.

STARTING SCHOOL IN 2020

Information about lining up will be sent out via Class Dojo in the days prior to school starting.

Details of start dates and times for 2020 has been published to the Events section of the website. Please arrange a familiar meeting place to meet your child for the first two weeks of school.

There will be changes to our school site and access once the new building is handed over. The School will communicate with families in the first week regarding changes.

Pedestrian access via Keeler Street and Rickard Street (library gate) will remain the same.

The COLA will still be accessible however the administration building will be cordoned off for Phase 2 of the building upgrade.

Thank you for your support.
