SUCCESSFUL RETURN TO SCHOOL

A huge thank you to our families who have been using the Rapid Antigen Kits to test their children twice a week before coming to school. To date we have had zero students and teachers test positive to COVID since returning to school this year.

If a student or staff member receives a positive RAT result, they need to:

o    record the positive RAT  result through the Service NSW website External link or Service NSW app External link

o    notify the school of the positive RAT or PCR test result as soon as possible

o    follow NSW Health advice External link to isolate for 7 days.

If someone in a student’s household tests positive, the student will be required to self - isolate for 7 days.

Any student or staff member who is unwell and/or displays symptoms of COVID-19 will be asked to go home and stay there until they can complete a RAT or PCR test.

  • If symptoms continue, they should stay at home and take another RAT in 24 hours or have a PCR test.
  • If the second RAT or initial PCR test result is negative, and they are well, the student or staff member can return to school.

RAPID ANTIGEN TEST SURVEY

The Department of Education requested parents complete a short survey about the use of department-supplied rapid antigen tests (RATs). Mr Boyd sent the link to the survey to parents on Sunday evening. This information will guide the department’s future operational planning and help us protect the health, safety and welfare of all staff, students and communities.

The survey is completely voluntary and anonymous. It will take less than 3 minutes to complete. Your survey responses will not be linked to personal information about you or your family and will not be linked back to our school.

Surveys close at 5:00pm, Wednesday 9 February.

RAPID ANTIGEN TESTS – extra supplies

Our school has received additional RAT’s to supply to our families for the following two weeks.

To receive test kits for the fortnight commencing 14 February, parents will need to complete the permission note emailed today, Wednesday 9 February.

The permission notes gives the school consent to send RAT kits home with your child on Friday of this week.

Thank you for your continued efforts in working together to keep our community safe.

MEET THE TEACHER

Every year, our school holds a ‘meet the teacher’ session early in Term 1.

However, under the current COVID guidelines parents are not permitted on school grounds. We are hopeful that restrictions may be eased over coming weeks to allow you the opportunity to meet their child’s teacher. If restrictions prevent this from happening, some form of electronic communication will be sent home.

Parent / teacher interviews scheduled to take place at the end of Term 1. Once again, the format of these interviews will be governed by COVID guidelines. We are hoping to be able to invite parents on site for these interviews, although other options could be implemented such as ‘telephone interviews.

PLAY EQUIPMENT PROJECT

Planning for our playground equipment upgrade is well underway. This project is funded under the ‘Metro Renewal Program’, where the Department of Education funds 50% of the costs.

This week, students were asked to provide feedback on what type of play equipment they would like to see in our new playground.

Work should commence on the project before 30 June this year.

CPS SWIMMING CARNIVAL

The results of last week’s swimming carnival are given below. Well done to all participants. Results of the carnival are published below. Our best swimmers will represent our school at the Parramatta / Merrylands Zone Carnival on 1 March.

CPS ARTWORK

During the school holidays students from our school had their artwork on display at Carlingford Court.

CROSSING SUPERVISOR

Unfortunately our Rickard St pedestrian crossing supervisor finished up at the end of last year. At this stage Service NSW are yet to fill the role. We are hopeful a new crossing supervisor will be appointed soon. Until this happens, our school executive will fill the role.

ROAD SAFETY

Please play your role in keeping our school community safe by following the road rules surrounding our school. Please act as a role model as a pedestrian, by using the pedestrian crossing. When driving, please adhere to the road rules when dropping off and collecting your children from school.

PARKING SIGNAGE EXPLANATION

A number of parents have requested clarification of the traffic signage surrounding the school.

This sign means that in the area in the direction of the arrow you must not stop your vehicle at any point on the road or kerb. This signage is found in both Rickard and Keeler Streets.

The ‘No Parking’ signage in Rickard St applies between the hours of 8:00 – 9:30am. During this 90 minute period, you must not stop for more than two minutes in this area. You must remain in or within three metres of the vehicle.

After 9:30am you may park your car without any restrictions.                                   Most of this signage in Rickard Street is on the school side of the street. The majority of the other side of Rickard Street has no parking restrictions.

The ‘No Parking’ signage in Keeler St is not time specific. Here, you must not  stop for more than two minutes and remain within three metres of your vehicle  regardless of the time.
