FIELD OF MARS EXCURSION
Yesterday Year 4 attended an excursion to the Field of Mars Environmental Education Centre as part of our Science Unit.
Students had an enjoyable day where they went on a bush walk to find observable features of living things in their environments. They learnt how to classify animals and plants and locate useful bush resources that can be used for medicine, food, tools and shelter.
They conducted an Invertebrate investigation where they predicted and collected a variety of invertebrates. Students collected different types of insects using bug catchers and then classified them into categories.
Students then took part in a close-up encounter with a variety of leaf and stick insect species. Students drew and labelled the observable features of a phasmid.
