Principal's Report Term 1 Week 9

SCHOOL OPERATIONS - UPDATE

Yesterday, the NSW Premier, Gladys Berejiklian outlined the plan for NSW Public Schools, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The NSW Government and Department of Education are encouraging you to keep your child/ren at home from Tuesday 24 March. The school’s doors will remain open for those students whose parents are in the essential services.

As updated expert information comes to the Department, who are in constant liaison with NSW Health, we will keep you informed of any updates to school operations.

ONLINE LEARNING

Mark Scott, the Secretary of the NSW Department of Education, yesterday spoke about ‘one unit of work’ being developed and used at schools. Whether your child is at school or at home, the same learning content will be provided by our school.

Our teachers have been developing online learning modules that students can access both at home and school. These units of work will be made available to students from today, Wednesday 25 March. Information on how to access this work and how to communicate with your child’s teacher, will be shared via class Dojo and email.

I encourage you to access the Learning from Home resource, which provides practical advice to parents and carers on how to best create and support a productive learning environment at home:

ROLL MARKING PROCEDURES

Students who are learning from home will not be marked as absent, and these days at home will not affect their overall attendance percentage. Students who are at home and are not participating in learning activities provided by the school will be marked as absent, on leave approved by the principal.

If your child is sick and will not be completing learning from home, please send the teacher a message via Class Dojo.

Thank you for your support and understanding during this difficult period.

AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

Unfortunately due to the increased risk of COVID-19 we have had to cancel our after school activities for the remainder of Term 1. (Drawing classes, Taekwondo, Chinese Language, Chess, T3 Soccer Training and Coding)

All providers are looking at possible options to deliver lessons in an online format.
