Special Religious Education (SRE) & Special Education in Ethics (SEE)
NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.
At Carlingford Public School, Special Religious Education (SRE – commonly known as Scripture) and Special Education in Ethics (SEE) is delivered on Wednesday 2.30pm – 3:10pm for K-2 students and on Thursday 2:30pm – 3:10pm for 3-6 students.
On enrolment parents/carers will be given the SRE and SEE participation letter to complete and return. After the initial enrolment, notification of changes to a child's enrolment in SRE/SEE should be via the form available on the School Bytes Parent Portal.
The following SRE classes are offered at Carlingford Public School:
Anglican SRE is provided by volunteers from local churches. Students explore the good news about Jesus found in the Bible and the depth of God’s love for everyone. With trained teachers, lessons are age-appropriate, fun and inclusive to build resilience, character and faith.
Catholic SRE is provided by the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney. Catholic SRE “Scripture” teachers (also known as Catechists) are authorised by the local Catholic parish and trained by the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney. The Catholic SRE curriculum is approved by the Archbishop in liaison with religious education experts. Lessons include activities that are fun and inclusive for students, whilst also providing them with opportunities to critically explore the Christian faith in depth and to pray and reflect. Catholic SRE teachers engage young people in hearing the Good News of Jesus Christ and learning the key elements of our Christian life and culture.
