Principal's Report Term 4 Week 9

COVID OUTBREAK

Last week, we had five students test positive to COVID – 19. We wish the affected students and their families a speedy recovery.

These cases were immediately reported to the Department of Education (DoE) and NSW Health.

Our school was closed for the onsite attendance of staff and students last Wednesday and Thursday. The school underwent a ‘COVID deep clean’ to ensure return to school was safe. During this time our executive staff also worked with the DoE and NSW Health to complete the contact tracing process.

Students and staff classed as contacts were identified and asked to self – isolate for the required period (7 – 14 days), having to provide negative COVID tests on specified days.

On Monday 29 November, the Premier introduced the rapid antigen home testing (RAHT) program which allowed close contacts to return to school immediately following a negative PCR test and on the basis that they do daily RAHTs before attending school across seven days. This means that our students' learning is able to continue with minimal interruptions following a positive COVID-19 case. Many of our families have taken RAHT kits home.

The safety and wellbeing of our staff and students is of paramount importance to us at all times. As such we will continue to work closely with NSW Health to ensure that all necessary health advice is adhered to.

2022 KINDERGARTEN PARENTS ZOOM INFORMATION SESSION

On Monday evening, Mrs Tillett ran a Zoom session with our incoming 2022 Kindergarten parents. The session familiarised parents with our school routines and outlined what school will look like for their children next year. Thank you Mrs Tillett.

2022 KINDERGARTEN TRANSISTION PROGRAM

Our Kindergarten transition program will be held  Tuesday 7 December and Tuesday December 14. Despite the proposed teacher’s strike on December 7, our transition program will go ahead.

Following the new health advice from the Department only those with completed enrolments will be able to attend. If you have not yet completed the enrolment process and would like your child be a part of the program, we encourage you to finalise the paper work as a matter of urgency.

Our transition sessions will be split into two groups, with half the students attending in the morning and the other half attending in the afternoon. Sessions will commence at 10:15am and 12:45pm. Transition sessions will take place in the spare demountable buildings adjacent to the administration block. Parents dropping off and collecting their children will need to enter the school via the gate at the end of the administration block (next to the demountable buildings). There will be a designated drop off and collection zones for parents.

We look forward to meeting the newest members of our Carlingford Public School community in the coming weeks.
