Principal's Report Term 4 Week 10

TERM 4 FINAL DAY AT CPS – THURSDAY 17 DECEMBER

At the beginning of Term 1 of 2020, our school held an additional Staff Development Day. This meant that Term 1 was one day shorter for students at CPS compared to other Department schools. To make up for this, we will be open for instruction for one extra day in Term 4, meaning that the last day of school for 2020 will be Thursday, 17 December.

DAY 1 TERM 1 – 2021

In order to support a strong start to 2021, there will now be two School Development Days (SDD) at the beginning of Term 1, 2021. Consequently, there will only be one SDD at the end of Term 4.

For Term 1, 2021, School Development Days will take place on 27 and 28 January, with students in Years 1-6   returning 29 January.  Kindergarten students will start on 4 February at 10:00am.

STAFF UPDATE

Congratulations to Miss Belme and Miss Sung on their recent success in picking up new positions with the Department of Education for 2021. Miss Sung will commence next year as a permanent EAL/D teacher at Wentworth Point Public School.

Miss Belme has been appointed as an EAL/D Education Leader in the Hills Principal Network and will be based at Excelsior Public School in Baulkham Hills. This role is not permanent, so we are hopeful Cathy will return to CPS in the near future.

Miss Tran has accepted a one year contract at Roselea Public School commencing next year. Similarly, Miss Powe will commence at Rainbow Street Public School on a one year contract.

On behalf of the students, staff and community of CPS, thank you to both Erica, Cathy, Tina and Gwyn for the wonderful work they have achieved with our students. Good luck, we will miss you.

YEAR 6 GRADUATION ASSEMBLY

The Year Six Graduation Ceremony was held today at school.

The afternoon commenced with speeches, before students were formally presented with graduation certificates. It was great that parents were able to attend the assembly.

At the end of the graduation ceremony, Year 6 students had a photo opportunity at the flagpole.

YEAR 6 FAREWELL

The Year Six Farewell will take place tonight, at the Epping Club. Students will have a great night of dining and dancing, farewelling CPS in style. Our fantastic P&C have kindly covered the cost of the farewell to ensure that no students miss out this year.

I wish Year 6 all the best in their endeavours at high school next year. They have been a great group of students who are a credit to both their families and our school.

Always remember Carlingford Public School. Aim high and follow your dreams – nothing is impossible. To our Year 6 parents who will be ‘moving on to high school’, thank you for your support, suggestions and friendship over the years.

Year 6 will have a leaving parade tomorrow afternoon, commencing at 3:00pm with students being given a ‘guard of honour’ by all students K – 5. The parade will conclude with raising the Year 6 flag (signed by all students) and then ringing the original school bell to officially end their time at CPS.

YEAR 6 BIG DAY IN

This Thursday, Year 6 will participate in the ‘Big Day In’. The day is an action-packed event designed for students celebrating the end of primary school. The students are going to get wet and wild in an atmosphere fuelled by participation, teamwork and leadership. Year 6 are asked to wear mufti (please note that their clothes will get wet and dirty).

THANK YOU CARLINGFORD MULTI PURPOSE LEARNING CENTRE – B/A SCHOOL CARE

On behalf of the students, staff and community I would like to thank Elizabeth Stevens and her staff who have been providing quality care for our students before and after school for 27 years. Their lease expired at the end of this year (Our current provider didn't apply for a new lease) and Camp Australia will now take over in 2021.  Elizabeth will still continue at CPS in her role as Director of Carlingford Multi Purpose Learning Centre Pre School.

TOYS AND TUCKER – written by Sabrina, 6B SRC rep

Recently the Student Representative Council organised for our school to take part in the Toys and Tucker appeal. Our generous school community donated 377 kilograms of food, 130 toys and 56 drinks.

Over the past few weeks, the SRC and Prefects collected food and other donations, while students in 3/4O safely stored and counted the items. These items will be packed into hampers and given to families in need over the Christmas period.

Thank you for your generosity.

STREET LIBRARY UPDATE

The SRC are excited to announce that the Street Library has been installed at Edwin Cross Reserve. Parramatta City Council asked our SRC to be involved in designing and painting a street library, to be placed in the newly upgraded local park. A Street Library is a small box that allows local residents to share and trade books they no longer read. To use this library, select a book from within the box and replace it with a book from your own home. It’s a great way to encourage your children to discover new books and share old ones.

Congratulations to our SRC for their efforts in making our street library a reality. Below is a photo of the street library and our wonderful SRC team.

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE 2021 – CAMP AUSTRALIA

Camp Australia has just announced the launch of their new Parent Portal app, available on the App Store and on Google Play.

This new Parent Portal app significantly improves the way that parents make and manage their bookings with Camp Australia by offering a simplified and intuitive booking process, a booking calendar overview to see their bookings in advance, and updated features including multi-child booking and a recurring/casual toggle.

An updated billing section gives families their totals at a glance, an easy way to track their spend, and full control over their payment management. There are lots of other features such as child profile management (including medical requirements, additional authorities and more), one-touch contact to call the service directly or get in touch with our friendly customer care team and, coming in 2021, offers, loyalty rewards and a photo gallery.

The Parent Portal app is available now and the update to the desktop version will be available in early 2021.

Please click here to view our Parent Portal app flyer.  The following link provides a walkthrough of the application  and highlights all the great features.  Click here to watch
