Principal's Report Term 2 Week 7

 

MULTICULTURAL PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION

Each year Carlingford Public School students participate in the Multicultural Public Speaking Competition, with our children preparing and presenting speeches on a range of multicultural topics. After presenting speeches in class, two representatives were selected to compete at the stage finals.

Twelve students competed in the Stage 2 finals with all finalists presenting outstanding speeches.  Well done to Kanishka, Sarah (Year 3), Spogmay and Luke (Year 4) who received highly commended awards for their efforts. Congratulations to Maseeha and Asher who were declared the winners and selected to represent our school at the Stage 2 zone finals.

Fourteen students competed in the Stage 3 finals with all finalists presenting outstanding speeches.  Well done to William, Sofia and Wisdom who received highly commended awards.  Special congratulations to Yannis and Sanjana who were declared the winners and selected to represent our school at the Stage 3 zone finals.

 

SYDNEY WEST CROSS COUNTRY CARNIVAL

Congratulations to the following athletes who represented Parramatta / Merrylands Zone at the Sydney West Cross Country Championships at Eastern Creek yesterday.

8/9 Years Boys - Marcus, Neo

10 Years Boys - Luke, Asher

11 Years Boys - Lewis, Tyler, Riley

11 Years Girls - Nicole

12/13 Years Boys - Finn

12/13 Years Girls - Jenny 

 

K -2 ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

K – 2 will hold their Athletics Carnival today on the school oval. K – 2 students will compete in 50 metre running races and also take part in some great tabloid activities. The carnival commences at 9.30am and parents are most welcome to attend. ‘Sport in Schools Australia’ (SISA) will be running novelty events.

 

3 – 6 ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

Our 3–6 Athletics Carnival will be held next Wednesday, 19 June at Barton Park in North Parramatta. 

Primary students, (and Year 2 students turning 8 in 2019) will predominantly compete in track events (800m, 200m, 100m and relays), although long jump finals will also take place. High jump and shot put heats and finals will take place at school in the weeks leading up to the carnival. The long jump heats will also take place prior to the carnival. Students are asked to wear their sports uniform with their house badge attached to their sleeve or alternatively a green, red, blue or yellow shirt may be worn for competitive activities.

 

CARLO CUP 2019

This week saw the first of the quarter final fixtures kicking off with games between Croatia VS China and Belgium VS Uruguay. Both games went to the wire with Belgium scoring a late winner to beat Uruguay. 

Another great game saw Croatia and China go down to penalties. China prevailed and booked their place in the semi-finals against Belgium.

The final quarter final fixtures take place this Friday between Spain VS England and Brazil VS USA. Good luck to all teams!

 

END OF TERM DANCE PERFORMANCES

This term our students have been having dance lessons with ‘Sport in Schools’ every Monday. At the end of the term all grades will be performing their dance in front of the whole school. Kindergarten will perform their dances at their Friday afternoon assemblies. Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2) will perform on Wednesday, 26 June at 2:30pm, and Stages 2 & 3 (Years 3 - 6), will perform a week later on      Wednesday, 3 July at 2:30pm. Parents are most welcome to attend.

 

TERM 2 ACCOUNTS

Term 2 accounts were emailed to parents on Tuesday 14/5/19. Prompt payment of your account is appreciated to ensure our school can continue to fund programs for your child\ren. Term 2 accounts are due on Tuesday 11 June.

At the bottom of the term account email you will notice there is a PDF document which contains a description of the items included in your child/ren's term account. Within the email you will find a PDF copy of your statement and a button that will allow you to pay your children's fees online using the School Bytes system.  School Bytes communicates with our current online payment system ensuring your details are kept secure and is our preferred method of payment.  

The 'Make a payment' button on the school website is still active and will remain in place. Online payment provides you with an immediate receipt for payment. We ask that you consider online payment before you send cash, cheques or credit card payments to the school office. If you are making a partial payment or for a particular activity please ensure you identify the item and amount clearly. Please ensure you write clearly your child's full name, class and what the payment is for on the outside of the envelope. Printed statements will no longer be sent home. 

 

WOOLWORTHS EARN & LEARN

Woolworths Earn & Learn promotion is well under way. Anyone can collect stickers to support your school when they shop at Woolworths, whether they’re staff, parents or friends.
 
With every $10 spent* at Woolworths, one sticker is collected. These can be placed onto the Earn & Learn sticker sheets and dropped into the collection box at Carlingford Public School (front office) or Woolworths at Carlingford Court.

Woolworths have once again partnered with Modern Teaching Aids, Australia’s largest supplier of educational equipment which will enable us to choose resources across Arts & Craft, Digital Technologies, Maths, English, Science, Outdoor and Indoor Play and more.
