2018 ANNUAL SCHOOL REPORT

Carlingford Public School’s 2018 Annual School Report is now complete and is available for viewing on the school website. The report includes sections on progress on our 2018 - 2020 strategic directions and an evaluation of last year’s external validation process where we were assessed against the ' School Excellence Framework'. Of course the main focus of the report is the outstanding achievements of our students, staff and community.

GARDEN CLUB EXCURSION

Last week, the Garden Club had the opportunity to visit the Sydney Botanical Gardens.

The students had a wonderful experience as they explored the ‘Plants with Bite’ exhibition and saw the spectacular vertical green wall. The Garden Club members then participated in an interactive presentation about Australian native bees and collaboratively built mini bee hotels which we were allowed to take back to school. We will place these bee hotels out in the school grounds during spring time. After the students built their '5 star' bee hotels they observed a fascinating collection of preserved local invertebrate specimens using magnification and explored the gardens looking for insect pollinators.

Thanks to Mr Lam and Miss Cheung on organising the excursion! Any students interested in joining the garden club is welcome to come either Monday or Tuesdays at lunch time to the garden!

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY, JUNE 5

World Environment Day encourages people from around the world to consider ways they can improve the quality of life of all living things and live without harming the environment. World Environment Day provides us with the perfect opportunity to reflect on the environmental impact of our behaviour. This year’s focus is on Air Pollution.

Approximately 7 million people worldwide die prematurely each year from air pollution, with about 4 million of these deaths occurring in Asia-Pacific. World Environment Day 2019 will urge governments, industry, communities, and individuals to come together to explore renewable energy and green technologies, and improve air quality in cities and regions across the world.

Students will be covering some of these concepts in class this week.
