NEW ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Congratulations to Amanda Assad from Epping Public School who was selected as our new Assistant Principal after last terms interview process. Amanda will commence her new role at CPS at the beginning of next year. Mrs Elliott will continue to relieve in the role for the remainder of 2019.

CROSSING SUPERVISOR FOR KEELER ST

After many years of applying to the RMS for crossing supervisors for Rickard and Keeler St, we have finally had some success. I was informed this morning by RMS that the criteria has been changed and we have qualified for a crossing supervisor for our Keeler St crossing.

Our allocated crossing supervisor is a lovely lady named Roueen. She commenced this morning and will be on duty from 8:30 - 9:30am and then again from 3:15 – 3:35pm every day. Our staff will continue to supervise the Rickard St. crossing in the afternoons. Hopefully RMS will allocate a supervisor for this crossing in the near future.

2020 KINDERGARTEN TRANSITION SESSIONS

Our 2020 Kindergarten transition program commences this week. Transition sessions will be held for the first four Thursday mornings of the term - October 17, October 24, October 31 and November 7.

The sessions will involve fun activities to familiarise children with our school setting and information sessions for parents.

If you have a child who will be starting at CPS in 2020, make sure that they have been enrolled through the front office so that you don't miss out on important information about the transition to school process.

FACILITY UPGRADE

Works carried out at Carlingford PS during the School holidays have consisted of the installation of the COLA ceiling, completion of timber flooring to the Hall and completion of joinery to the Multipurpose / Library space and OOSH Office and Kitchen. Level 2 and 3 learning areas have progressed with the completion of painting, joinery install, flooring and furniture installation.

External areas are vastly progressing with the continuation of topping to the tiered seating that surrounds the COLA, continuation of cladding installation and commencement of all external landscaping works. If you would like to access further information concerning the upgrade, please visit the School Infrastructure NSW’s website: https://www.schoolinfrastructure.nsw.gov.au/projects/c/carlingford-public-school.html

SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS

School photos will be taking place in Week 4, Tuesday 5 November. The photographs will include class, portrait and sibling shots.

All students in K-6 received school photograph order envelopes yesterday. The eldest child from each family should have also received a separate envelope for sibling photograph orders. Instructions on how to place an order can be found on the front of the envelopes.
Orders can be made online at:
www.advancedlife.com.au

Online code: EK9 CPV XQB
We strongly encourage everyone to place an online order. If you need to pay in cash, please send the exact money in the envelope straight to the school office, not your child's classroom teacher. If you place your order online you do not need to return the envelope to school.
Payments must be made by Tuesday 5 November (Week 4).

CARLO STAR SEARCH

Carlo Star Search Auditions will be held on Wednesday (Years 3-6) and Thursday (Years K-2) in the hall at lunch time. Notes will be sent home with students this week informing them of their audition date. Due to the significant increase in the number of auditions this year students will only be able to perform the first 2 minutes of their 3 minute performance in order for everyone to have an opportunity to audition. We look forward to seeing the amazing talents our students have to offer!

The final will be on Tuesday 26 November (Week 7)

3-6 @ 9:40am

K-2 @ 12:20pm.

We look forward to seeing the many talents CPS has to offer!

TELL THEM FROM ME – PARENT SURVEY

This Term, our school will be participating in the Partners in Learning parent survey, another part of the Tell Them From Me suite of surveys (student, teacher and parent surveys) on student engagement. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement.

Running this survey will help our school understand parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s experience at school. These include: communication between parents/carers and staff, activities and practices at home and parent/carer views on the school's support of learning and behaviour. This valuable feedback will help our school make practical improvements.

The survey is conducted entirely online on smartphones, ipads, tablets, laptops or computers. The survey will typically take 15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential. The parent survey will be conducted between 26 August and 25 October, though participating in the survey is entirely voluntary, your responses are very much appreciated.

Information about the survey is available at : http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/

2020 KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENTS

Currently we have only 91 Kindergarten students enrolled for 2020. For the last three years we have commenced the year with 120 Kindergarten students spread across six classes.

If you have a child (or know of any families) who will be commencing Kindergarten at CPS in 2020, could you please call into the office and complete the enrolment process. It’s critical that we know accurate student numbers as soon as possible as this impacts on how many teachers and classrooms we will be needed. With current Kindergarten enrolment numbers, we would only form four classes in 2020 as opposed to the six classes we have had since 2017.

Kindergarten transition is planned to take place earlier in Term 4, which is earlier than our normal transition schedule.

Neil Hinton, Principal.
